Bill C-86 has cleared Parliament and was given Royal Assent on December 13, 2018.
This omnibus budget implementation bill amends various legislation, including the Canada Shipping Act, 2001, and the Marine Liability Act, in relation to oil pollution response issues. See our November 9 post for a description of the relevant portions of C-86.
The main provisions came into force upon Royal Assent, with certain sections held back to come into force at a later unspecified date via government proclamation.
